Stranded: Famous People

Today I’m linking up with Shay and Erika for their Stranded series. I missed the first two but you can read my Stranded: Netflix post Stranded: Netflix here. It was actually my first ever link up and I loved it. I loved reading everyone’s posts everyone had so many great suggestions for TV shows, Gilmore Girls appeared to be the most popular, I’d say it appeared on about 80% of posts.

Stranded With

I guess you could go two different ways with this, you could either pick three people who were going to keep you alive and safe while you were on the island, or you could go with famous people you really wanted to hang out with, alone, with no interruptions. I of course chose the latter,

BUT, If I were to pick three people to help keep me alive, I would definitely pick this guy…

David Attenborough. This guy knows everything you could possibly want to know about mammals, reptiles, birds etc He would know if something was trying to kill us or not. Important!

And this guy…

Heston Blumenthal. Well we would need to eat. I’m sure he would be able to cook up something edible from what we have on the island.

We would also need somewhere to live, and who better to build a shelter than this guy…

Scott Cam. Aussie’s will know him as the host of The Block. He is a tradie and a builder, just who you need to build you a nice little shelter on your deserted island.

That’s one way of looking at it. Or here is another. 3 famous people who, like me probably have zero outdoor skills. But that’s ok.

Number one choice, hands down would have to be this dude….

Hugh Jackman. *sigh* just look at him, isn’t he the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen. Who wouldn’t want to be stranded on a deserted island with this guy!! My love for Hugh has lasted decades, it started back in the 90s when he was singing musical theatre (Sunset Blvd and Beauty & the Beast) in Australia. Ours (mine) is a love that lasts a life time. He needs to be on that island with me 😛

Next up would have to be Dory herself, Ellen Degeneres. I think she is hilarious and also a wonderful and kind person. What she does for her viewers is amazing. She has given away so many holidays, cars, so much money. She makes people happy, she makes me happy.  I I think after being stuck on a deserted island for who knows how long, a little bit of happy will probably help stop me from completely losing my mind!

My third choice may seem a bit random, but its not that random – especially if you know me. Mainly because I want to be a Princess when I grow up (that or C.J from The West Wing).

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

What I love about her, is that she grew up in Australia, you’re typical Aussie girl next door. Then, on an outing to the pub with friends, she met a Prince. Seriously she met a Prince in a PUB! They fell in love, got married had four children and one day will be Queen of Denmark!!! I need to sit down and chat with this girl!!

So that’s my extremely random mix of famous people I would love to be stranded on a deserted island with! Make of it what you will.

See you next time

Top Three Tuesday

Hi everyone,

Welcome to this weeks Top Three Tuesday. Once again another random week in the life of me. I had every intention of posting some baking pics and recipes this week, but as you can see time got the better of me and I failed, miserably.

  1. The Simon and Garfunkel Story

On Friday night Ben and I headed into the Perth Concert hall to watch the Simon and Garfunkel Story. Now I’m not a massive S&G fan, but I was super excited about seeing it, as a friend of mine is in the show. My friend Greg is playing the role of Paul Simon – and he was FABULOUS as was the whole show, turns out I knew and liked more of their songs than i thought. I was so happy to see him again after so long, we first met in 2009 when we both worked Front of House at a theatre in London. Due to various personal reasons, my time at the theatre wasn’t the best, some truly heartbreaking moments played out in that theatre, and not just on the stage. But Greg was always there, a mate I could always count on to make me smile. A truly wonderful person and friend. I was gutted to find out his stay in Perth was literally one day. We had a brief chat after the show and then he was off to bump out the show and then fly out to Adelaide at 6am the next morning. It was great to catch up but it was also sad as our catch up was so brief, it would have been great for Greg and Ben to get to know each other and I really wanted to show off some of the great sights in Perth. Fingers crossed he gets another tour and will come back soon!

2. Stormy weather and Ellie

On Saturday night we found ourselves up the hill at Ben’s parents house. It was FREEZING cold (by Perth standards) all day and even colder during the evening. A storm rolled through during the day dumping lots of rain and also hail. We arrived during the afternoon and decided to order pizza for dinner (it was too cold to go out) After dinner we settled in for the night in front of the tele and watched The Fugitive (I’d never actually seen it all the way through before) Even though it was freezing outside, there was no chance of me getting too cold as I had a super cute hot water bottle. Ellie sat next to/on me for most of the night. She was so warm, at one point I had to shove her off my leg as I was getting too hot! I actually think I was sitting in “her spot” as she normally wants to sit as close to Ben as possible. She did head on over to him (after I shoved her off my leg) for a little while, but then headed back to me. It was so nice having her cuddle up to me during the movie, even if she did snore 😛

My hot water bottle

I don’t think she was particularly impressed when I got too warm and pushed her away!

So she headed over to Ben for cuddles – She thinks she’s a lap dog. She is not.

3 . Review Dress

A few weeks ago in a Top Three Tuesday post, I wrote about how my favourite fashion label, Review was having a sale. I was so excited and I bought the cutest dress. I wore the dress for the first time on Friday night to see my friends show. I had planned to get Ben to take a nice full lenght photo of me in my dress at some point during the evening, but that didn’t happen. So instead you get the worst outfit bathroom selfie of all time!! It was a super quick pic of my outfit to send to my mum, she loved it, because she’s my mum, I think the photo is horrid, but its all I’ve got! I love the dress so much and I’m gutted I didn’t get a nice pic of me wearing it. I will have a few more chances to wear it soon though, as I’ve got a few weddings and engagement parties coming up. I’m determined to get a nice photo of me in it

It was a wet cold and raining evening in Perth, but who said you have to wear boring black and navy – Yay for colour

Click here for the dress – and its still on sale!!

Thanks for stopping by. See you next time 🙂

Top Three Tuesday

Hello and welcome to this weeks Top Three Tuesday. If you have read my post from yesterday you will know that the past week was one of the longest  and toughest weeks ever. Overall not one of my better weeks. But I’m always determined to focus on the positives and although it wasn’t the best week, there were still some really fun moments to be had.

  1. Finding Dory

Ben and I finally saw Finding Dory on the weekend. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I know a lot of sequels never seem to live up to the first movie, you end up super excited (because you loved the first one so much) only to be really disappointed. I won’t give away any spoilers but Finding Dory lives up to the hype. Its so good. There is also a cute little  bit at the end of the credits, so be sure to stick around for that. Adults and kids of all ages will love it. I must admit we went to see it in the evening, in Gold Class just to make sure there were no kids in the cinema lol

Before the movie, one of us is excited to see Finding Dory. One is not….

2 Slow Cooker

Its been pretty cold (for Perth weather) here for the last few days, especially over the weekend, so I decided it would be the perfect time to dig out my slow cooker from the back of the cupboard. I hadn’t actually used it since last winter 😦 I had some chicken pieces in the freezer and picked up a recipe base from the super market and put everything into the pot on Sunday morning and let it do its thing during the day. I really need to spend some time looking for some good slow cooker recipes, the recipe base was ok, but I’m sure there are much better ‘from scratch’ recipes out there. Its in my top three this week because its so easy to just throw everything in the pot in the morning and then forget about it for the rest of the day, then when its dinner time you simply lift the lid and serve. I can’t wait to try out some new recipes. If you have any good ones, let me know!

3. The view from my backyard.

I love where my house is situated. I have some gorgeous trees behind my house that not only look stunning but also attract a lot of native wildlife. The other day I was in my garden picking some strawberries when a kookaburra started to laugh at me! These pics are in my top three this week because they are just so pretty. Sadly though all the land behind my house has been sold and they have begun to clear the land so that a new housing estate can be built. We’re hoping that they don’t cut down all of the trees, because look at them! How pretty do they look??

That is it for this week. I have my fingers crossed that this week will be better than last week. So far this week has been a bit “meh”. It can only get better, right??
